Understanding Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) in Young Children

Quick Answer: Yes — Echolalia Is Communication 

Some children learn language in larger chunks rather than single words. This is called Gestalt Language Processing (GLP). For these children, repeating phrases (echolalia) is often the first step in meaningful language development — not a behavior to eliminate. 

What Is Gestalt Language Processing? 

Gestalt Language Processing is a natural language development pathway where children:
