We are excited to welcome Nicole Ethridge, M.S., CCC-SLP, ADHD-RSP to the Chatterbox Pediatric Therapy and Chatter Blocks Learning Center team! Nicole is a Certified Speech-Language Pathologist and ADHD Rehabilitation Services Provider (ADHD-RSP) and brings specialized training in medical-based, educational-based, and consultative Executive Function therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults.
What Are Executive Functions?
Executive functions are the cognitive skills that help us plan, organize, initiate tasks, manage time, regulate emotions, stay focused, and adapt to change. These skills play a critical role in daily life—impacting success at home, school, work, and in social situations. When executive function skills are well supported, routines feel more manageable. When they are challenged, tasks like homework completion, following multistep directions, transitioning between activities, or managing emotions can feel overwhelming.
Executive function differences are common and can be influenced by ADHD, autism, learning differences, anxiety, chronic stress, or developmental variability. Executive dysfunction is not something to “fix” or “cure”—but with the right supports, individuals can build skills, strategies, and confidence to navigate daily demands more successfully.
What Does Executive Function Therapy Look Like?
Executive Function therapy at Chatter Blocks Learning Center and Chatterbox Pediatric Therapy uses a metacognitive, strengthsbased approach. Rather than teaching isolated strategies, therapy focuses on self-awareness, reflection, and problem-solving, helping individuals recognize what works for them and apply those tools flexibly across environments.
Intervention may target:
- Planning and organization
- Task initiation and follow-through
- Time management
- Working memory and attention support
- Emotional regulation and flexibility
- Self-monitoring and problem-solving
Support often begins with foundational skills (such as emotional regulation and attention) and builds toward higher-level executive skills over time, creating meaningful and lasting change.
Who Can Benefit?
- Children who struggle with organization, transitions, or emotional regulation
- Adolescents managing increasing academic and social demands
- Teens preparing for post-secondary education, work, or independent living
- Individuals with ADHD, anxiety-based cognitive challenges, or learning differences
- Adults navigating life transitions or increased responsibilities
Support can be beneficial at any age when executive function challenges are impacting daily life.
Why ADHD-RSP Certification Matters
As an ADHD-RSP, Nicole has completed specialized training and participates in ongoing professional development focused on evidence-based executive function and ADHD intervention. This certification ensures that therapy is current, research-informed, and functionally meaningful, with strategies designed to generalize beyond the therapy room into real-world routines.
Our Commitment to Families
Nicole’s work emphasizes collaboration with families, educators, and care teams. Executive Function Therapy often includes consultative support; ensuring strategies are practical, individualized, and aligned across home, school, and community settings. Carryover takes time—and therapy is designed to support gradual independence with patience, consistency, and compassion. We are thrilled to expand our executive functioning services and look forward to supporting our families with this comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming approach.
