Sensory processing refers to how the brain receives and responds to information from the senses. Some kids process this input differently, which can affect their attention, behavior, and daily activities.
Types of sensory challenges:
- Sensory Seekers: Crave movement or touch (e.g., constantly jumping, crashing into things)
- Sensory Avoiders: Overwhelmed by sounds, lights, or textures
- Under-Responsive: May seem unaware of sensations (e.g., not noticing messy hands)
If your child shows signs of sensory processing difficulties, our occupational therapists can help identify strategies and tools to support regulation and confidence.
